I was born of confluences: the places where one thing meets another and both are changed. The Nile itself is born of a meeting, where the White and Blue Niles join and become one river. So too with me: where mountain meets sky, where ancestors meet the not-yet-born, where many landscapes and languages flow together.

My grandmother began walking this path with me when I was eight years old. In the more than forty years since, it has deepened with each initiation: through loss, through growth, through the turning of seasons and cycles. Each one has been a portal, carrying me across a threshold and teaching me to linger there.

I stand within African-rooted lineages that honour entangled ecosystems as sacred: human, ancestral, more-than-human and the Earth itself.

Guided by:

stories, symbols, silence and sensitivities.

Living at the threshold

I have long been drawn to the liminal: the in-between, the edge, the doorway. Where paradigm shifts engage the terrain of dreams, intuition and ancestral memories.

Perhaps this began where I began. I was born in Dar es Salaam, the "haven of peace". I grew up among its welcome, departures and messy in-betweens, where faiths and histories rubbed against one another and made something new.

My own life has followed those tides, across four continents and cultures, into new ways of belonging. Like the birds that follow ancient routes written in their bodies, I have learned that migration is not only leaving. It is also carrying home within You, and becoming a haven for others along the way.

Alongside my inherited lineage, I trained as a global mystic with Andrew Harvey, Mirabai Starr and other respected guides, deepening my devotion to the sacred.

For more than twenty years I worked across the United Nations and international NGOs: food security and refugee programmes in the Great Lakes Region, community work with refugees and minority ethnic women in the UK, and child rights advocacy in Geneva. Again and again, I have stood with people at the most unforgiving of borders: between homelands, between war and peace, between who they were and who they must now become. I have witnessed what forced migration takes, and what mercy can restore. In 2003, I was recognised by Queen Elizabeth II as a Pioneer of the Nation in the Voluntary Sector.

Seeing through a diasporic lens, from someone who belongs to more than one place and fully to none, I bring both personal and systemic understanding of historic wounds, active conflict and collective healing.

I have led circles and co-woven Eldering Councils where other ways of knowing are honoured, where story, ritual and deep listening carry as much authority as strategy and structure.

Always, I am working to "store ease" in the stories we speak, hold, imagine, nurture and exhale.

SOUL: a way of devotion

At the heart of all my work is a simple devotion. I call it SOUL.

Serving. Offering what I carry in service of life, lineage and the generations still to come.
Observing. Slowing down enough to notice what is stirring at the edges, in the body, the land and the silence between words.
Unlearning. Loosening what colonial, patriarchal and inherited patterns have taught us, so that older and truer ways can return.
Leading through LOVE. Leadership as an act of radical care + invitation to integrity.

Devotion as a practice of returning, again and again, to what is sacred.

Decolonial Thought Partner

Thinking differently about the dominant narratives, power, belonging, leadership, and cultures that shape — and often limit — their possibilities. Applying Ubuntu philosophy, non-violent communication and decolonial frameworks.

Strategic Facilitator

Designing and holding the conversations that happen in the in-between, when an old strategy no longer fits and the new one hasn't yet taken shape. Creating confluences where different perspectives meet, build trust, and grow cultures where people and purpose flourish.

Eldering

African-rooted wisdom for governance. I hold Elder and space-holder roles across international networks, walking alongside people through the portals life asks us to pass through: grief, initiation, migration, transition, return.

Soma-poetic Sensing

Listening at the borderlands of body, story and land. Weaving somatics and land-based embodiment into trauma-informed care and social change.

Sacred Earth-Heart Ritualist

Offering Indigenous East African rituals, the ancient technologies of the threshold. Ritual opens a portal, helping us mark our crossings, name what has gone unnamed, and hold what has gone unheld.

Through teaching, mentoring, consulting, and speaking, I find the language that makes the unnamed nameable — the way "prior generosity" arrived, unbidden, to hold a moment that had none. I create spaces where the invisible is honoured, and the visible is held.

Dismantling blame, shame and tame means reclaiming the parts of ourselves that were dormant, forgotten, silenced or left behind, with tenderness, ceremony and mercy. On the far side of that crossing, new possibilities and presence emerge, in service of our collective liberation.
